    Taco Seasoning

Published: This post may contain affiliate links · Which means I make a small commission at no extra cost to you·

Taco seasoning is one of those things I hope to never run out of! Mexican food is just an easy, last minute crowd pleaser so I like to make sure I have ingredients on hand. Instead of buying pre packaged taco seasoning that often comes with MSG and added sugar, make your own and save money while you're at it!

What Spices do I need for Mexican Seasoning?

    Cumin

Paprika- I use paprika in so many things, including my Hot Chicken, so I would go ahead and get a large one!

Chili Powder- add more or less depending on how you like it. This isn't as hot as something like Cayenne and it gives a necessary flavor, so don't leave it out!

    Garlic Powder

    Onion Powder

    Oregano

    Sea Salt

    Black Pepper

    Taco Seasoning

    Prep Time5 mins

    Ingredients

    • 1 Tablespoon Cumin
    • 1 Tablespoon Chili Powder
    • 1 Tablespoon Paprika
    • ½ Tablespoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon oregano
    • ½ teaspoon sea salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper

    Notes

Sometimes in a recipe, I will only add a few of these ingredients. If you don't have them all, you will need cumin, chili powder, and paprika. Those 3 alone will give you a Mexican flavor.
If I am making this fresh, I will use minced garlic, but for storing, you'll want the powder version.
Store in an airtight container for however long you need- but typically around 3-6 months for most spices.
